| Post subject: | handbrake question |
i want to put an a series in the back of my clubman so i thought the easiest way was to just mount a front subframe in the back. i get 4 wheel disc brakes that way. i was wondering how i go about fitting a mechanical handbrake anyone know? |

(edit) Just re read that you want 4 disks, not rear drums 
I'd try to fit rear disk calipes from another small 4 disk car thats about the same size as a mini caliper and modify to suit, you might only need to make an adaptor plate and a different flex hose. |

Look at some of the corrola and magna calipers. Fiat 124 sports ones are perfect for brake balance and have a good handbrake set up, but are a floating caliper that doesn't float too well. Like too you'll need a Bowden type cable. What brakes will be up front? The rears will need to be balanced against these. |

Or you could just use the KAD rear disc brake set-up. |

Why not? If you're keen enough to stick a donk in the back of a mini, getting kad rear disks to work on driven wheels should be easy peasy

Honda rear calipers (civic, prelude etc. - they're all the same). Dirt cheap, nice handbrake setup and small enough to fit under a 10" wheel over a Cooper S rotor. You'd want to use a drum brake upright with an adapter plate |

You could use the (Exy$$$$) KAD Calipers, they will work, but not the hub and disc. However, since you've got considerably more weight in the back, a) you can take advantage of that and have more rear bias and b) you've also got more weight to pull up. So, yeap, KAD calipers will do the job, no question, but for this type of project, there are many better and cheaper alternatives. |

I have had thoughts about doing something similar to this. I wanted to put two front subs in a steel tubed chassis like a baaji buggy, and then i wanted to put a ferrari looking shell over the top like a go cart. Does anyone know of the little Mini Ferrari that was made back in the 80's like this. Sorry to hijack thread, you reminded me. |
