We have removed a couple of engines now one out the top and one out the bottom.
Out the top was a bit of a nightmare we didnt have the correct lifting bracket so the engine sat too level.after a few hours of swearing and wrecking stuff we got it out.
The one last night was a donor car with good everything attached to the subframe so we pulled out the front subframe and was a much easier task with less swearing  Only bad bit was lifting the body off the subframe but bonus it was a smashed shell.
So im sure theres guys who have removed 100s so whats the best way and any good tips youd like to share.

Use the right bracket with offset, and lift out the top.
More so if it's a hydro car.

They come out the top.
Leave as much on the motor as you can.
Takes about an hour without power tools.

cheers for reponses 8) Another question i have is the van has a different drive shaft setup to the donor engine.Van has U bolts and donor has the hex shape joint.
also has new front end stuff and disc conversion so thats all going in.I will attempt dropping the body on the new subframe but sounds like i will probably end up pulling it all apart.
