Post subject: | Failed Blue Slip |
Hey all, Got the bad news from my mechanic today ... my little blue clubman failed her blue slip. She has a few issues: - Movement in left suspension arm - Radius rod bushes worn - Damage to rear cross member - Left hand drive coupling broken DOH! Looks like i got a bit of work to do. Also I want to ask if anyone knows the standard distance between the wheel and the wheel arch is supposed to be? Lucas |

The trim height for a clubman is 343 + or - 9.5 mm from gaurd lip to centre of wheel/hub. Pete |

Fruity (and others).. Movement in left suspension arm - Radius rod bushes worn - Damage to rear cross member - Left hand drive coupling broken ![]() ![]() Any of these faults could potentially ruin your day....the fella should be thanked for pointing out things that could efect yours and others safety. The people who write you up a slip just for the commission are not doing anyone any favours IMHO. |

It was said in jest, hence the " ![]() As if I'm that stupid to blame the guy for defecting those faults. I was curious as to who he went to for his Blue Slip as we are in the same area! |

Went to Gerry WUBBELS at Gateshead. Im glad they found the faults, so I can fix them. Rather then find out when something snaps while im doing 110km/hr along the freeway. Im just spewing it failed the blue slip. |

IMHO blue slips are no guarantee of anything. I just bought a Mini that was blue slipped for rego. You would think that would be a good thing. After getting the car on the road, it needed new shocks (3 with no gas), new brake shoes (metal on metal), new brake cylinders (4 out of six were seized), new drums (all warped), new rear brake piping (one blocked), new clutch cylinder (leaking like mad), new air filter (black from never been changed), new oil filter (never been changed), new exhaust (big holes all from rust) AND to top it off, the layshaft is bent so the gearbox is basically on its way out as well... And someone put this car on the road..... ![]() All fixed now though ![]() |

I used to believe that the blueslip check included searching RTA records to see if a car was stolen etc. After 13secmini's recent episode with Barbie, looks like it's not so. ![]() Sooo, what in blazes DO they do that's worth 56 bucks or so (ie double a pinkslip)? Obviously they don't check the cars too well, as said above. |

but at least its now got a good home aye! As much as I would love to openly tell people who it was, people will put two and two together when I post my new boy up in gallery and they think back on the for sale section. Incidentally it was the same person that told me quote unquote "I am offended that you would imply that I would get a dodgy blueslip" haaaaaaaaaaa ha ha... I laugh now. But not last week. But then I am to blame for not checking the car out properly ![]() |

Any mechanic that gives dodgy blueslips or falsely knocks back a car on the hopes of getting the job to "fix" it needs reporting, they'll cop a large fine and lose there license as an inspection station so noone else can get caught there ![]() |
