Hi,

Im a new mini owner. Hooray. I am guessing it is going to be a while before i can contribute constructively to these forums .. but hopefully one day soon.

Driving the mini today I noticed that it seems to be 'sticking' when stationary. What I mean is if I'm sitting at the lights in first with the clutch in (and no brakes on).. it seems to almost be stuck there .. like the handbrake is on or something (which I kept checking - because that's exactly how it felt).

I pulled over and walked around the car and the only thing that I noticed was that the front passenger side wheel arch seemed to be slightly closer to the tire than on the other side. Could this be related?

What side of melbourne are you on?
My first guess would be the clutch fluid but i'm faily new to minis too.

I'm sure someone will diognose it on here :)

To be on the safe side you may need to get your brakes looked at .

Hi Mogadon,

It's most likely that you have your brakes adjusted too tight. Do you have drum brakes all round?

What happens if you put the car on flat ground, take it out of gear and take off the brakes? Can you push it?

Your brakes could be over adjusted or sticking wheel cylinders. Go for a drive, about 3-4ks, using as little brakes as possible. The stop and feel each wheel close to wheel nuts, be aware they could be hot, but see if one or more is unusually hot compared to the others.If so it's probably the tight one. Also the handbrake cables sometimes stick at the pivots on the rear suspesion arm. To check these, park on flat ground with the car in gear, engine off. (that'll stop it rolling away) Let the handbrake off and then, grab the cable between the pivot and the wheel hub, give it a good yank and see if pivot pulls back. If it does, see if car rollsa easy by pushing it in nuetral. If it is the pivots you need to give them a good dose of WD40 and work them back and forth.

Clutch fluid could make sense ... Changing gears seems to be getting more difficult ...

Seems to only be a problem when running ... I can roll it back into the garage when off.
