Post subject:  another headlining Q
ok so i am going to get my tyres (265/55/12) from the UK as it is waaayyyy cheaper over there so i thought id get the headlining from there too my only query is its for a mk3 uk mini sooooo will it fit my 67 deluxe?

I wouldn't take the chance. Mk3 cars have bigger windows which means smaller headlining.
Get one made locally, they aren't that expensive.

Check with Newton Commercial in UK, perhaps they have done Oz ones- I know they have done some carpets and trim.

If its just the headlining it may fit but if its a whole kit the MK 3 won't fit because C panel boards are smaller due to uk mini having bigger side and rear windows.
Email newton commercial and they will advise. Be patient they can take a few days.

Or get one done here. Miniking might sell them .

All Newton Commercial C panels are wrong even the so called australia mini set. I learnt the hard way!!!. An upholster will supply and fit for $350 to $400.

The above comment made me take a look at my new but un-fitted Newton Commercial trim bits. Here is the C-panel piece in place:

The panel is flat but installed it is curved. I couldn't get the pegs to hold it in place for the photos but when I pushed it it all lined up ok. It certainly looks to be the right width but maybe the narrow bits top and bottom may need some modifications?

NC was very particular that I send them photos and any details of the car I had so they could supply the right parts. Mine has a 2-piece steel frame headlining.

Looks 100% better than the ones I got for the clubby. Maybe they have sorted them out for the Aussie minis

The C-trim I got is the cream crackle and it is thin vinyl on stiff but not rigid card that is about 2mm thick.

I can't say what colour the car is but the previous owner called it Rheems Ocean Blue. I'm sure it isn't a colour minis were ever sold in.

I'm fairly sure the car is a 2nd half 1964. There are a couple of electical items tha suggest that. It was an 850 with sliding windows but the Australian number plate size bootlid and two-iece headlining.

Rheims and Ocean Blue are the same colour and were used by BMC in 1962, 63 and 64.
Rheims (Reims) was the home of the French Grand Prix, the French national racing colour was blue, so BMC used that name on sporty cars. MGB, Sprite, maybe the Cooper?)
On the more sedate cars they used the name Ocean Blue. (Austin Freeway, Wolseley, Morris Major Elite, maybe the Mini 850?)

Yes they changed to the Aussie content ,short number plate mount and a few other things,engine number etc in late 1964 early 1965 ,mine is an early 1965,still has the two piece headlining, sliding windows,floor start ,but the Aussie engine number and number plate mount
