Can anyone tell me the standard disc size on a 1989 rover with 12" wheels. ?

disks are 8.4 on standard 80's rovers,looking at $60 a pair these days

blatant hijack...

i've got metro discs and calipers.

the metro calipers sh$%t me no end, bleeding etc and even after a rebuild i think they have a slow weep somewhere...

what are my cheap options for going backwards...

thinking about putting std rover discs and one pot calipers on... or can i rebuild one pot calipers with a spacer to fit over the vented discs?

Just put a kit through the Metro calipers. I'd be happy to swap what you need over with some std Rover stuff if you want haha.

I don't think there is a spacer available for the calipers

they'd bolt straight on with a new set of rotors - a pair is only $60 as above

Chuck a different master cylinder on the car, we had this issue with our old hill climb car where the pedal was like a wet sponge.. They still lock up when you hit them hard enough believe me, but changing your master cylinder could help with the feeling from them

Edit- also seem to remember issue with the rubber seal between the caliper halves on them too, ie, wasn't fat enough and didnt seal correctly, we made our own out of some sort of hose in the right size and that helped, I had them apart after every round to make sure they were ok though..

This was 5 years ago now so can't remember exact details..

Other option is to keep your vented discs and chuck a set of minisport calipers on there, they're cheap as chips as well as being pretty well developed now

The bridge seal should always be changed if you crack open the two halves.

Interesting. I wonder if it was the right one. The bridge seal doesn't usually come with the piston seals.

mine were rebuilt by a reputable sa brake place on the parade...

i was told by a mini place in sa that the bridge seals are just not available so the brake place must have re-used the old ones...

as this was all a couple years ago and the car's been laid up (insert house renos and new child excuses) since then, i don't have any re-course to take them back, and the brake system will need a good going over before driving again...

meeni, had been thinking minisport, are they a better design for hoses etc?
