Post subject:  Hydro suspension question

Hello all,

Just wondering how i should go about removing the hydro suspension from my mini. I will be using it again, but i want to remove the subframes and refurbish everything before putting it all back together again.

I'm assuming that the hydro system needs to bled in order to remove the subframes? If so, what is the best way to do this?

Cheers

Simo

What I do is get a tyre chuck with a bit of hose and stick the chuck onto the hydro Schrader valve and let the fluid run into a bottle. You will get about 500 to 600ml each side.
There will still be fluid in the bags when the car is sitting on the bump stops but there will be no pressure.

you can just push the centre of the valves and let it squirt out like a tyre valve, but be aware that it'll come out rusty, brown and disgusting.... old hydro fluid is lovely stuff

You don't get it into your eyes and mouth if you do it my way. :D
Plus you get a bottle full of 40 year old fluid to re-use again.

But strain it through a pair of your silk stockings before re-using.

Well that clears things up nicely. Drain them into a container, don't get any in your eye's and if it tastes funny it's probably no good :D thanks guys, as usual this forum is a wealth of information for those of us who has little to clue.

Cheers
