A quick question - what's the best way to removing factory brazing on a Mini? I've removed the front apron and at the moment have a small half inch high section left from the wheel arch to the bonnet latch panel. I know the apron was spot welded to the wings but there is some brazing on either end (wheel arch and wing-latch panel) which I need to remove nicely.

Hope that makes sense.

An oxy would be ideal if you could get your hands on one

An oxy would be perfect, unfortunately I don't have access to one. Would a butane torch or similar get enough heat into it? Or is there another portable tool I could use?

Oxy, or an LPG or butane torch.
Hot air gun won't work- too cool.

Might work but I think too small. I was thinking of a plumbers gas torch (Primus, etc).

I have oxy/LPG- it'll do anything except fusion weld with steel rod.

I used a small die grinder to get mine off

Its a pretty soft weld

I'll let you know how it goes
I got one that pops on top of a butane canister.
If it reaches near its advertise 1100C with any luck it will at least soften it up to dig out.

Yeah those sort are OK I have a Ronson one.
Then the Ronson style canisters disappeared and it won't fit current ones.
