Hey guys, this guy has an overheating problem and know one can work it out, so ive Copied it from our Mini Club facebook page. Even has our local mini mechanic stumped. hey guys its been a long time since i asked for advice but i need it now. my 998 is about to burn if i dont sort it out. i cant stop it from over heating, done the head and gasket, timing, water pump, thermostat, radiator all seems good. still its sits on 98+. looked at vizards book, it is saying maybe water flow to fast? a lot of work done on motor will rev at 6000 in top gear. maybe overdone it, what are peoples thoughts? should i run without thermo with blank plate and add a return hose from plug near 4th piston to thermo housing. Help help help its giving me the heebee geebee's and empty pockets. Any help is appreciated. Cheers, Rhys. |

UK radiator, fan possibly on backwards or not spaced close enough to shroud. |

removing the thermostat won't help anything... If it has the local mini mechanic stumped then there's probably not much more to add. If the water system is all in good condition, then it's either too lean or ignition is retarded... |

What compression ratio are you running? If it has been increased, did you do it buy machining the head face or opening up the chambers? |

Is it actually hot? or is it an indication problem? You should be able to feel a difference in temp between the top & bottom radiator hose, to see if the radiator is working! Cheers Shane |

You did not say what was done to the engine. Was the block acid dipped ? if not one of the most common causes of overheating I find is blocked water ways around #4 Cylinder. |
