Post subject: | Rear van shocks vs. rear sedan shocks |
Now I need a new pair of rear shocks for my van to get the RWC. Now I have found out that the van and moke rears are 30mm longer than the sedan ones. I have also found that it is hard to get the van rear shocks. Now my question is, do I just put sedan shocks in? Are the van shocks just longer because it's a commercial vehicle, or are there differences in the positions of the mounts? |

I believe it's because the vans ride higher than sedans at rear (when new...). We put a full set of Koni sedan ones into a van a while back, it handled sweet, no problems. ![]() |

Well here are my options... Pedders want $162 for a pair of Van shocks. AutoPro want $65 each for Monroe Sedan shocks. Should I spend the little extra and get the right ones from Pedders? |

They wont say anything! They gotta get the things from Melbourne ya see... I'm thinking i'll get the correct ones (being the pedders), its only an extra 30odd bux. |

Lucky ya not chasing a set of SPAX, I paid $450 a pair for SPAX 14 point gas adjustable lowered shocks, from fulcrum. Grab the $162 a pair ones. |

Hi, As well as the length issue, I have found some sedan rear shocks are too wide to fit a van or moke - the inner wheelarch recess the shock fits into seems to be smaller on the van, for some strange reason.... ![]() I have Gabriel Red Ryder on the rear of both the van and Moke. I find them great for a budget "uprated" gas shock. The last set were about $90 a pair from Nth Mini Parts, but that was about three years ago. Cheers, |

I've been told the Pedders ones are rebadged Gabriels, not sure if true or not. I'm running Gabriel red riders on the EA Ford- they seem good shocks (and were cheap!) ![]() |
