ahoy miniacs

Ive done a search and i think ive found the answer that i want but theres no harm in double checking.
I have my new (but old) 850 and ive just doing an engine and subframe swap with the 1275 A+ that was in my clubman. Whilst the engine was in the clubby i did the alternator upgrade to where it has the internal regulator so i had no need for a regulator and luckily for me, there wasnt one in the wiring BUT my 850's loom has a whopping great regulator sitting below the fuse box.
I just wanted to make sure that as i know my alternator has the regulator inbuilt and works, am i ok to just bypass the 850's big ol' one? And by bypass, i mean remove it completely and join up the wires where it once was? OR is it better to just leave it where it is and let it do its thing to the 12V that courses through the loom as the old gauges and lighting need it?

Secondly, Im failrly well versed in clubman wiring after replacing the loom but the 850's is a little simpler, so simple that it doesnt seem to have an accessories 'section' to the ignition. If it doesnt and im not just missing it, is it possible to put in a newer ignition switch that has the option, i understand it will mean a few more wires but im happy to install that for the sake of a stereo that turns itself off.

i'm not sure about the regulator bit but i'm fairly sure you can get another ignition barrel from somewhere like minisport which would have an accessories section. i'll go have a look.

You can get an ignition switch with an accessory position, they were used on the MGB.
Also available from Holden in the UK.

Yeap, I fitted that same switch to one of my GTs for an Aux position so I could listen to the radio without burning the coil out. Good company to deal with, had it next day after ordering.

Now on yr regulator / alternator, I take it that is already has an internal reg? If so, you only need connect the thick Brown wire and the smaller Brown with a Yellow Trace.

No you don't need the original regulator and the easiest way is just run the radio power through a simple toggle... a couple of bucks from Repco and you don't have to tamper with the original wiring.
