I have a tin clutch MC and I got quoted $250 to re-sleve and build an old MC. Also got a price on just a rebuild kit and that was $45.
New ones on ebay are 90 odd bucks or $155 for the tin type.
Why on earth would I re-sleve it when the new one is $100 cheaper.

Dose anyone here know if they can be re-sleved cheaper or if the kits can be brought for less than $45.

Kenno, i`m not gunna torque money, but a resleaved "Tin" tanked cyl is more thanb the others cause they need to de-solder the tank,,, sleave it & then re-solder the tank,,, time consuming

the other plastic res types are cheaper to sleave

The guy who re-sleeved mine quoted about $80 just to do the re-sleeving. I took the reservoir off and re-soldered it myself. I did the re-assembly and the kit was a lot less than $45 from Somerford.

i have just had a .7" M/C stainless steel sleeved to .75" for $205 .

That price included s/s sleeve ,making a new piston to suit , fitting a new kit & postage ,
bench testing , had it back within a week .

This was for a plastic tank type m/c .

A resleeved (with SS or brass) original MC won't get corrosion inside like the standard ones can- whether new or old!
Also they still look period correct. For those that care. :wink:

The tin tanks I've had done the drill 2 holes in the tank then solder plugs on the tank
