Great idea!!
As much as I enjoy looking at pristine examples, I have to say I get more out of looking at others' road warriors or works-in-progress - they're more "real"

G'day guys, Have had this crazy thought lately......... We all have a project mini in the garage, in fact a lot of guys seem to have several. Has there ever been a concept to hold a project car show? Instead of all the nice ones all lined up and people picking tiny imperfections or variations on how they "should" be, maybe there is the chance to have a good time and gain some inspiration. After attending the MOCQ Muster and witnessing a crowd hanging around a Bathurst car barn find, I think majority of us all like to stand around a rusty mini and picture it's end result. What about a show where we dig out the mini's from their slumber in our garages, pump up the rotten tyres and trailer them into a paddock? Who knows it might get them worked on more regularly too! Obviously there would need to be a steady stream of fit lads to push them all into place!. What do you guys think? |

I like the concept. I have two that would qualify for entry, however with no trailer and the prices for a trailer day hire i would be hestitant to participate. Would be great to see though. |

Good idea! In fact I've noticed there are an increasing number of 'work in progress' cars at Mini shows. Below are some photos of my unmolested barn-find ex-NSW Police MK II S as displayed at Mini Expo in Melbourne last May. It attracted more attention that my other ex-Police roadworthy display car that sat next to it. There were several other non-pristine cars at that show.

This should work, alot of car shows these days are having unfinished sections, i would happily spend a while looking at unfinished minis at a show,would also be helpful for people restoring thier own minis, could exchange tips and advice etc. |

that's not a bad idea, but you know something funny - all those people with restored cars who don't like them getting rained on don't seem so wierd right now, if I got my rusty traveller out of the garage, I wouldn't want it rained on either!!!!!!! sgc wrote: I have to say I get more out of looking at others' road warriors or works-in-progress - they're more "real"

The Mini car Club of Tasmania award a trophy for "Car with the Most Potential" at their shows. Its a sort of consolation prize I think. I have the dubious honour of being awarded the the last two.

Funny how times can change. Many years ago I remember a car show saying absolutely no half finished cars will be accepted. But I too like looking at work in progress. |

Getting it onto the trailer might be the hard bit - its up on axle stands STILL 
I'm not sure thse dainty little tyres will every touch terra firma again! 
My list of things to do: Complete building doors Electrical harness Fuel system Drop engine in Connect front drive Interior Fit windows I've got all the bits - its just finding the time! It just never, never ends

Back then the cops used to like single colour cars- they didn't stand out so much from the hordes of Mini Deluxes etc.

Mini Car club NSW has had a rust and dust section in the show and shine for years. |
