Post subject: | from 7x13" wheels to 6x10" wheels |
I am unhappy with my 7x13 wheels as my bearings are starting to die and i have play in the steering rack a few months after it was fixed.. I would like to run 6x10 wheels but would like to still keep my sport pack arches.. It is a bit of a headache to change them as holes have been drilled in the body and bits of panel have been cut. Does anyone have pictures of 6x10's with sportpack arches that fit well? I just want something that will still fill the arch well like the 7x13 I need to do a disc conversion so i can put the 10's on. This is what it looks like now ![]() |

Get the 10 x 6 Mambas from Midlands wheels, their offset means they stick out and will fill the flares |

Hi Danny, can I assume you have drum brakes on the front? If so are your front wheel bearings only ball type? Maybe if you change to taper roller type bearings with disk brakes then the bearings will last longer? Also the pommie steering racks are really bad and I have found they only last 18 months to 2 years and that's with 10" wheels, so changing to 10" wheels will not solve your rack problems I think your car looks great and would be a shame to change to smaller wheels, but that's only my opinion. |

You do realise going from big fat wheels to small fat wheels won't solve the problem in its entirity? Lots of the bearing and other issues come from the offset of the wheels, that is the wider the wheels the more leverage being applied to the outer bearing and thats why they wear. The problem won't be as bad as with the 13s, but eventually the issues may come back to haunt you. |

Did u check how much for replacement bearings & fix up rack play..... Ur still going to have to convert your discs ... New rims & tyres which in the end might fit your arhes .... Just .... but won't look like they are now. What then? New arches ??? Paint trim etc etc? |

Dan as you know I've just done this exact conversion. All my steering issues and displeasures have been fully rectified. Come have a look and a drive of mine and see what you think. You can keep those flares too ![]() |
