ok guys a little advice , i am going to paint my engine this weekend all old paint removed degreased washed down with soapy water any thing else i should use before i paint ...newbie...

Give it a wash / wipe down with Wax & Grease Remover .

As goodie says, wax and grease remover is really good. Gets rid of those last little bits.
