![]() Depends... With slightly bigger inlet valves and some porting it may well be just as good as a 12G202 head, as per stock 1098 ![]() |

You can port them out & fit big valves just like you can with a 202, but there's more metal to remove. Way back when they were all we had, I used to start by sticking a 1-1/16" drill down the inlet ports. ![]() |

Stop before you get to the Y bit (aka a bifurcation). Then blend the ports back in with a die grinder. Works good with 202 or 295 inlet valves. Make sure you drill it straight in a big bench drill or a milling machine- there is only about 1-1/8" of space between the edges of the 2 pushrod holes. If you eff it up don't worry, the world is full or 12A1456 heads. ![]() |

What does an unmolested 202 head sell for in aus these days? |

~$50 for a 202 needing reco, $100 up for a good one complete, with good valves still. 295s bring a lot more, but they tend to be cracked more often than 202s from my observations. |

Ya I have a rusty old 295 sitting here but I'm not sure it's even worth getting it cleaned up and tested.....pretty pitted. |
