Hey guys,
Im just wondering if anyone can tell me where i hook up the multi meter onto the alternator to test its output.
The reason im asking is because ive killed two brand new batteries in 3 days.

Cheers, Rhys

u will have a big brown wire that goes to ya alternator should be 12 volts hook the red side of the multimeter to the brown wire and the earth off the multimeter to the block and start the motor you should read over 12 volts on the brown wire when engine is running

Are you testing the alternator out of the car, or is it still attached?

You should have 3 wires attached to the back of the alternator - two wide plugs, and a smaller plug. The two wide plugs are your 12V out, the smaller plug is for the dash light.

If you switch your car to accessories (don't start the engine) is the alternator light on? If it isn't, your problem is either that small wire that runs to the alternator, or the bulb. If this light doesn't work, the alternator won't get it's trickle charge it needs to begin charging, so the alternator won't work. If you do get the light on accessories, then disregard this.

This seems rather odd to me. The alternator would have to be supplying massive voltage to make this happen, which I think is unlikely.

I would be checking for a short circuit in the charging system.
