Vizard is no help, so what would be an HS6 needle to start with on a 1098?
(I used an OA6 on the 1412.. I do have some TW needles- a lot leaner).

Engine specs (was Barney's old motor):
1098 +.040
mild cam (dunno what `tis, Mini Kingdom fitted it a zillion years back)
modified 202 head, std rockers
HS6 carb with Ramflo filter
Minispares or Minisport 1-3/4 manifold
LCB and 1-3/4 zorst system

Thanks guys. :)

hee hee,,, honestly, try another OA6

you`ll be surprised

the little donks only suck what they need so it`ll probly be fine with an OA6 as well :-)

Thanks Matt. I can use my needle to try.
Next question:
Would the HS6 be better than his existing HS4? Or a waste of time...

yeah, it`d be alright,,, maybe chuck some 1.5 rockers on it & make sure the manifold is all nice & flowy without any hard/sharp edges etc & it should be sweet

If this is not an April 1 Day prank, there is a Very Good reason why it's not listed in Vizards Book

... the reason probably is UK only got about 15x 1098 Minis (mostly Clubby Travellers)?

No, not April Fools, I am serious. People do put HIF44s on tuned 1098s, but we would rather use an HS6 because:
a. We have one,
b. They don't suffer from the O-rings rotting in unleaded fuel,
c. I have NFI how to tune an HIF, I'm strictly olde skool.
d. They look sikker than a common HS4.

I put a HS6 on a warm 998, no problems at all and it went very well.

hee hee,,, yep... i would

& just for the sake of playing with people`s heads... i once fitted a single 1&3/4 SU onto a 4.5 litre studebaker & ran an OA6 needle & it ran like a charm, perfect plug colour & the customer was soooooo in love with it

we did the same with a 4.5 litre daimler years before that

i also ran my 4.4litre alloy V8 powered Kombi ute with a single 1&3/4 su & same needle but 2x yellow springs wound together & then chopped to allow the piston to reach max height,,, also ran like an absolute charm with perfect plugs colours... However, i must admit that when i swaped out the std cam for a warm one , i had to stuff with the needle quite a fair bit to get it right... damn thing did massive wheel-stands :-)

Yet --> & how`s this grab ya--> i run twin 1&3/4 Sus on my mini :-) & yep, same mixture needles with red springs :-) :-) :-)

i reckon the same set-up would run a lawnmower perfectly :-)
(well ok, maybe not twins on the mower tho :-) )

If I recall correctly, this OA6 needle was used on the Austin Healey 3000 motor.
Versatile, ain't it.
