Post subject:  Opininon of parts value?

I know something is worth what ever someon will pay but wanted an estimate of current market value of the following group of parts

* 1100 S 12G940 head
* Mk 1 cooper s block
* Mk 1 cooper s rods
* Cooper s crank (not sure size or journals)

So it is assembled (as in short motor) but has not been rebuilt, it is as it was when pulled out of car

easilly $2000

if it`s all in either good condition or at least in a "re-conditionable" state (in my books)

& to give you a bit of a break-down on it all-->

head $300+ depending
Block $600 - $700 (easilly, maybe more)
Rods a definate $200+
Crank between $500 & $1000 depending

then there are things like the cam shaft & push rods & rockers, dbl row timing gear set etc etc etc ??? all would be there as well yeah???

Make sure you get the 1275 idler gear with it - its different to a small block idler gear in that a 1275 crank is stepped and the idler gear is bushed to fit it.

That'd be the primary gear, not the idler... :wink:
And try it on the crank- the front bushes wear.
If worn, the easiest fix is a Minispares floating silicon bronze bush. No machining needed (once you get the old bush out) it just slips in there.
Available here from most Mini places, or direct from Minispares UK.

Value depends largely on the condition though. If the crank is cracked that value changes to $0. If the head is cracked that also drops to $SFA, and if the block is more than 120thou over it is also worth $SFA. At least know what you are buying before you hand over your cash. The rods are usually pretty good, although early Mk1 rods can have a few problems.

That would be right of course - its what happens when you type and talk to visitors at the same time. They were an idle lot of visistors and somehow it transposed.
