Post subject:  EFI Fuel Filter?

Just thinking, I will need a fuel filter for my Mini. I am going fuel injected so it needs to be a high pressure one. Can anyone recomend an "off the shelf" filter kit available here in Australia?

Just go into an auto store and find anything designed for 'push through' fuel injection with a 5/16" size barb on it. The stock rover one is a fairly standard size common to lots of Japanese cars.

I'm filtering before the EFI pump, so just using a normal $5 filter from wherever.

Why bother filtering after the pump, if there's any crap in the fuel, you don't want it getting into the pump anyway....

I think you need a finer filter to protect injectors. Too fine to suck through without cavitating in the pump so you pre-filter the big chunks and post filter the small stuff. I have a rover EFI filter and mount... goes to shed to photo...

That's what I want... where can I get something like that on this side of the equator? I have copper fuel pipe and can crimp the ends so "all" I need is the filter and end fittings...

It's not a complex as it looks in this shot.

The actual filter is just a plain metal cylinder with a threaded inlet/outlet on each end.

The photo shows it inside the thin black metal bracket that wraps around it and bolts it to the body.

This would be a Z200 fuel filter. Looks similar in dimensions to the rover fuel filter, but with barbed ends. Available at any auto parts store for cheap.
