Still playing aound with my distributor. !!!!

Going to get some new weight springs in the morning. Current one's are bit stretched looking. Read a site today about Primary and secondary springs. (lucky I saw that!)

Anyhow, the advance cam arm has a "Maximum degrees" stamped on it. It's stamped 14o for my 850.

Are there any charts listing the cam arm degree limits? Not sure if this is the correct part. I used several dissy's to assemble a good one. I have a 17, 13 & 14.
Does it really matter? I'm guessing it stops the timing advancing too far at very high rev's.

I looked at my wifes 997 and it has a (Max) 17o arm.

this may help with your questions

And yes the degree on the dissy does matter, but it depends on what you are trying to achieve and if the engine has been modified

If the springs are old they will loose their tension & then the dizzy advances faster. Much like putting lighter springs in. The lighter of the 2 different springs allow the dizzy to adv quick at first, up to around 3000-3500, & then the heavier one slower up to the max adv!

I'm not sure what max adv for an 850 is your right, the different arms give different max adv.

Cheers Shane

Thanks Kiwiinwgtn & Shane.
I did stumble across that article, which is why I started to dig deeper into the Dissy. Tried MiniSport this morning but they don;t carry a range of springs. I think it's a bit of "suck it and see".

I put the best bits I had together and it seems to be running good. No back firing. It's dam hard to see those timinh marks.

I think half my problem is driving my wifes Lancer (150hp) then driving my 850 (34 & bit hp) and expecting more. Gonna creep the mixture up a flat at a time. It may be wanting a tad more when it's reving.

Anyhow. thanks for the response. I just got out the shed for lunch.

Cheers
Alex.
