Can someone in Adelaide recommend me a good painter?
Anyone that they know that *may* do an under the counter deal or someone that does a good job for a good price.
I need slight body work; rear valance replacement and removing wide metal flares.
I also need them to somehow get rid of some small runs that the fcukwit that painted it left behind.
The new flares and strips between need painting too..
And the odd touch up here and there... like around the washer nozzle holes.

So anyone that knows someone "in the know"
PM me their phone number, or name that i can look up in the phone book.
Adelaide people only sorry

Will.

Hey Will,

Did you get your paint/panel work done?
How much did they charge? (Rude question. Ball park will more than suffice)

Cheers

Craig

Craig, to be honest i havent
I'm waiting for the flares and to get hold of a rear valance (minisport and the others dont have any in stock)

So until i get these the painting isnt gonna happen!
I'll probably call to get it booked in for the week after next.

Geez im lazy

Bugger. I'm going to bite the bullet and see if I can get some major panels from O/S. Even with the exchange rates, it might be cheaper than over here. I just don't understand why sometimes you can't get a straight answer lol...

Give me a ball park figure. If I provide these panels and the rest of the car ready to go, how much will it cost to spray... "er, well, hard to say, so many possibilities..."
Do ya know ya farkin job?

lol

I suppose if I allow several hundred for welding, me do prep for rest of body and then allow several grand for painting.. I'm hoping that will be enough.

Yeah i had exactly the same prob... "hi i was just wondering if you could give me a quick quote on some bodywork and painting"
- "ummm... nah not really... i mean we'd have to see the car first."
"yeah i might take it there next week some time for you to have a look at it."
- "yep sounds good. were booked up so it might take a month or so."

thats what its like at all places.
remember crash repairers have a lot of experience with painting and panel replacement.
i'm also supplying them the rear valance so they cant fiddle sticks around and take ages and say "were having trouble getting the part".

ah the fun. Just think of how long it should take to do it and triple it...

but they're worth it. If you're a big bugger or you know one or can rent one, you can always threaten physical violence...

or not

that'd be great. What colour? I'm thinking either dark dark blue, charcoal grey or deep purple

ooo ooo....charcoal grey!!! sweet colour!

with a black roof\ and arches!!! :D

actually was thinking white roof with a tint through it to match the main body colour... ie charcoal with a light silver roof so that it looks almost white but you'd have to take a second look to see the grey

more like a bit of subtlety never goes cheap

if u want a straight paint job it'll cost WAY less than if u want "a little bit showing here so u can see it at a certain angle but not other angles and change the colour here so when the light reflects off it looks full sick."

also the reason why they cant tell you how much it'll cost without seeing the car is because they CANT SEE IT!

not having a go at u guys, but try and do a maths test without the test.. it's the same thing, every job is different.
cut them some slack and u'll save urself some lost sleep

no, fair crack. Regarding the funky paint, I don't want the showy stuff, just a little bit of black added to the white to cause a very light grey. Not hard, nothing funky and shouldn't cost too much more.

As for the panel beaters. It's experience speaking here. Comparing a maths test to a paint job on a car is not quite spot on though. Asking a panel beater how much to spray a car should get you a ball park figure. How many cars have they sprayed? It's like my old ute. The oil pump sh*t itself and several buggers that I rang wouldn't give me an approximation. I was able to tell them what they had to do, it was a diesel so I didn't have the tool to align the injector pump if it slipped. Two fellas ummed and ahed and didn't get the work. It was the bloke who said "Well, if the job is straight forward it will cost you X and go from there if we have any problems" who got the job. Why? Because A, he sounded like he knew what he was talking about and B, I knew how much to have in my wallet. A professional knows their job.
