Post subject: | Wiper boxs / wiper arms |
I have wiper boxes and Tex wiper arms and they do not fit properly about 0.5mm play. The arms are new and the boxes also new I found a 60's wiper arm and it fits very tight on to the wheel box so its the Arms.. I am sick of having poor wipers so has any one modified arms from another vehicle to the mini or have a sure fix for this problem I wondered around in the cold to day at Pickapart and could not find anything i could modify I was thinking of making up some new spindles and bolting it tight, any one done this Thanks Kiwiinwgtn |

I must admit I've been thinking of changing / adapting a more modern cars setup. With the ally corroded thread wiper box thread mounts & the wiper motor you can't buy certain wearable parts for..... Unfortunately I haven't visited the local wreckers yet to see what i could adapt! To many other items on the to do list before I get to the wipers! Cheers Shane |

Hi Shane Yep that's the problem I have been to our car wreckers and had no luck, too many Jap import cars here in NZ these days Suzuki Swift wiper motors work and can be adapted Its the arm set up that got me stuck really need a socket / cam system as I want to be able to use standard arms there has to be a better way to connect the arms to the wiper box. I may have to make up some new spindles and outer mounting housings may be out of brass not alloy. Cheers Bernard |

A friend of mine here in sydney got a wiper motor out of the rear door of a barina? and mated it up to his moke wipers. The moke wiper motor doesn't use a cable though, it uses arms. Wouldn't be too hard to fit the moke wiper arm mechanism underneath the scuttle in the engine bay, surely. |

I was thinking along the line of arms. Having a look at a couple of my own cars I noticed the wiped motor appears to mount to the firewall and pass through to the scuttle / cabin air intake where the arms are mounted. If using bars / arms & not the mini setup, may have to make up a bracket to get the motor at the right height / angle to mate up! I think the curvature of the scuttle panel is going to be an issue too! I've just been working on re running my wiring through a different hole in the firewall, the one behind the brake master, to clear up the area under the scuttle panel so nothing can foul the action of the bars / arms in action! Cheers Shane |
