Emptying and cleaning out fuel tank on weekend, expecting a bit of silt, rust etc.

Found clean fuel but sitting at bottom found a 'blob' - almost mercury like in its quality -

looks like all the garbage -flocculent treated.

I did have some stale fuel problems - is this the lacquer?
Interesting .

is it self-aware?

Its water. Water and fuel won't mix (very much) so it stays as a seperate blob in the bottom of the tank. Its quite harmful because bacteria that break down fuel live in it. They eat fuel and excrete acid which rusts tanks out extra fast. I've seen sections of fuel tanks off ships where they'd eaten right through the steel of the tank. Of course its also bad when a big blob of i it gets into the engine. You can get rid of it by adding methylated spirits to the fuel which lets it emulsify into the petrol and disappear - or maybe just use E10 now and then?

It must be pretty bad if its building up like that even though you are using metho. I guess its the humidity in the north that causes the problem, the only time it seems to happen down here is if you leave the fuel cap off.

If its getting through to the engine you'll need a pretty good filter to trap it, which will need to be cleaned or replaced fairly often.
