Greetings All. Don't want to hijack anto's distributor topic. I still can't seem to get my (850) timing spot on. Thinking it was too advanced I droped it back a bit. Now it sounds a bit like an outboard chugging along. Obviously retarded somewhat. Back to 3rd gear getting up Taply's hill tonite! I'm thinking the advance weights or springs are not doing their job. I gotta Leyland (Oct 78) sitting under wraps which I know runs and pulls like a train. Q: Can I swap distributors while I pull the (850) dissy apart? Alex. edit - 78 leyland. Don't know where that face come from! |

Sure, there's not really much difference between most of them, it'll still run OK. Fuels are all different now anyhow. I've used 998 dizzys in 1098s and 1275s, they all worked fine. |

Thanks drmini. I'll give it a try tomorrow after work. Too cold tonite. Night all! |

Thanks Simon I'll remember that. Swapped the dissy's tonite and definetly solved the problem. I'll pull the original one apart and try and fix it. Strange thing, I had to rotate the dissy shaft (onto the cam) 180 degrees? Is this a common problem? Does this mean the key tags at the bottom of the shaft were wrong on one or the other? Or doesn't it matter? Anyhow it runs and pulls right. Obviouslt it wasn't advancing. Cheers All. |

Yep just means the dog was fitted 180° out. No big deal really. |
