You could get a machine shop to build up that lock nut socket if you wanted to reuse the lock nuts. Alternatively some butchery may be required if you need to get the wheel off in a hurry.

PS whats with the surgical gloves?

Either sacrifice a socket which is slightly undersized and knock it over with a hammer or take it to a mechanic and they will do the same thing but with their own tools. Lock nuts are a pain in the arse.

once you get them off,,, i have new CNC machined "Stainless" nuts to suit for sale

I have tried hitting it and heating it up..

Hi Guys, I am after the correct lock nut for the wheels attached. I am not sure on the brand of wheels or lock nuts used. The seller did provide a lock nut but its cracked in 3 places and worn down so it just spins when its on the nut.. Can anyone identify what brand / type of nut it is and where in Sydney i can get one from fairly urgently? The markings on the socket are: Top: 4A83 Side: Galaxy Cheers,

Whats the best way to butcher it off? The gloves are so i don't get road dirt all over my hands Nitrile gloves don't break down to oil and fuel as quickly as latex and vinyl gloves do.

Success! I tried pounding it in but it wouldnt budge so i got out the hand held jack and shoved that in the other end of the tire iron and that worked... I think i need to buy 3 more. thanks for the help again guys.. This is one big learning process.

Thread is 3/8 UNF They are Contessa wheels, chrome nuts are available from Minisport SA or buy some SS ones off Matt. Locking wheel nuts on Contessas are a waste of time, as everybody has 3 sets of these wheels anyway. (don't they?)

Try putting some small hose clamps around the socket to keep it together while you try using it. I had the same problem with an o2 senser socket.

I got them all off with a combination of brute force and the air jack. The super crap 23mm sockets didnt work.. Looks like i have to go back to super crap and return them. Matt how much are 16 S/S wheel nuts?

I have had a similar problem, I once lost my locknut. I just went to a nearby tyre business and they tried a few of theirs until they found one that suited.
