They appear to be around the 20 pounds mark over seas and that translates into 80 bucks here.
Is this too far gone, or can I salvage it? OR... are they available cheaper than $80 in Aus?

Replacements (made in England) are stainless steel, which is probably a better idea. The common problem is rust from the inside breaking through to the outside. If it's sound inside, it will probably replate successfully. Another thing you should check is if they make the early multi hole version, like you have. Al |

You could get a few sets laser cut and folded from SS, won't cost a fortune. Then sell the spare sets to fund yours.

So I have be told, the new replacements do not fit or work very well, (we don't always believe what we are told), it would be better if you could find someone who has fitted a replacement slide successfully, before you buy one. |

Go to bunnings, buy some rust convertor (make sure its got phosphric acid in it) wipe it on with steel wool, wipe it on thick... leave it for 30min... wipe it down with metho and steel wool. It will be clean, rust free and will take longer to rust next time.. Apart from surface rust yours look fine. |

These strips are not a plain shape, they would have been made with a die so cannot simply be folded up. It would be quite a job to fabricate them. Al |
