Hi all, I have a Clubman with significant front end damage. I also have a very rusty 850 (roof and floor) with a mint front end. So I have to ask the question. How much trouble would it be to graft the round nose (which I much prefer anyway) to the Clubby? I am thinking that a cut and shut just forward of the firewall might be the way to go, using the round nose sub frame to hold everything in place for welding. I am sure it's been done before and I look forward to reading all your insightful and sensible suggestions. cheers Rod |

I would think it is easier to do with new panels rather than trying to graft on the complete front end all at once? the differences, apart from the round guards and bonnet, is that both inner guards are different plus you will need to swap the two brackets which are spotted onto the firewall channel and brace against the left and right inner guards. You will also need a rover bonnet and round nose hinges which will bolt straight onto the clubby body hinge brackets. For the inner guards I usually cut just behind the radiator support as it is easy to access. But yes it's doable |

I agree that using new panels would be better but I have a good round nose front end already so I think I might have a go at that. Your Mini looks absolutely outstanding. I hope I can fix mine up to about 50% of your standard. Did you use a Clubby front sub frame or a round nose one? I haven't checked them side by side for any differences yet. Thank all Rod |

Hi Rod, subframes are mostly the same although I used one from a mini k as my clubman one was damaged, about 25mm out of square as it had been hit in the drivers side front corner. I will be interested to see how you go with trying to graft a whole front end on in one piece? I think the hardest part would be where and how you join the inner guards. It is also difficult to get the guards to marry up to the curves around the windscreen panel. |

I used the clubby I'd plate which I modified and welded back on as the top of the radiator surround. Most of the car is a clubby plus I only had the rego papers for the clubby which helps greatly when the time comes for a blue slip and vehicle identification. |

Good info, that. My Clubby was registered when I bought it and was transferred to me so I guess I had better keep the ID right to make it easier when I want to license it again. Cheers Rod |

Rod, Subframe was out of a late moke. Cut the bumperbar and sump gaurd mounts of it. The original one was a hydro (Clubman GT from which I still have the bags  ).
