Question, will this make people who don't own Cooper S's remove the badges when they sell it???

Hopefully this puts with wind up some of the less honest Cooper 'S' owners and sellers!

Yep!

I think we may see some of the high profile classic car dealers doing a panic too. Particularly so, as several Ausmini members contacted them to let them know that they were selling a fake/rebodied car.

I am sure several people will remember the poo brown Mk1 Coopers from not long ago!

So all those people out there that genuinely think they have a cooper S because they don't know better could get sued for selling it on as a cooper S. The world is getting a bit ridiculous i reckon

The seller must be 100% sure what they are selling is the genuine article , no different thanthe dodgy perfume sellers. Selling fakes for genuine money.

Just sell it as a CAR. Means of transport. You will not get as much for it but you will at least be able to sleep at night without worrying that there is someone outside your window pointing a blunderbuss at you.

The difference between genuine, replica, and fake has nothing to do with the physical properties of the car. Difficult concept for some to grasp it seems.

what dick buys GT without a ford verification letter and a inspection
we all know since 1966 everyone has wanted a real GT or cooper S no matter how it became one
but im glad someone has finally had a win against replica ripoffs

I would be suspicious of buying it at only $18,000 in the first place. Why didn't the ones being sued take action against the person THEY bought the car from.

I remember there was someone high up in the Ford fraternity that had an 'original' GT HO Falcon that had been sold numerous times but had never been shown or judged. At one of the anniversary meets it was judged and the guy given the bad news it was a fake. This was several years ago when they were pulling $750K.

Okay, so what happened to "Buyer Beware?" If the buyer inspected it twice and still decided to buy it, as a privet sale (not a dealer) surely it's stiff bikkies for him.

This is going to set a very silly precident for QLD at least.

How far will people stretch this one I wonder? Bogan says: "It had a HSV sticker on it and I didn't realise it was an SS?"

As Oz is apparently now the nanny country in this world, how long before the dills in power pass a law forbidding use of upmarket badges on cars that are not legit. Whether the owner bought or built it a fake/replica, or not.

I have no prob with replicas/fakes (we owned and sold one as such!) as long as they are not revinned then onsold as real ones.

Who is to say if you have a fake Cooper S ,as there are no official BMC or Leyland records ,at least with a Ford or Holden you can get a certificate from the manufacturer ...........but a mini ???
