I was picking up a few things from the race shop and saw the books they had on the shelf. I spotted this title 'how to modify your mini' by David Vizard. I asked to buy it and I knocked the price down. It was still in its packet and has never been opened. Does anyone know it and if so, how good all the info? I though it would be good to add to the collection.

Yes it's worth having, but it's one of Vizards 1st books or maybe is 1st.
Pretty old...
It's worth it for the gearbox and suspension info, which his later books don't have.

I only have the white one, is the yellow one really worth chasing down?

Yes it is, `Tuning the A series engine' has a lot more engine info in it.
I have 3rd edition, it has a little more in than the 2nd edition did.

I've got both. They are both highly recommended. 'Tuning BL's A Series', the yellow one, is very, very good, bed time reading for me.

Pretty early stuff in that one but much, if not most, of what he has to say is still valid. I rebuilt my Cooper S using that as the Bible pretty much, this was before his later (big yellow) book on tuning the A series had been published.

Vizard was also publishing Mini Tech News for some time which I aslo have copies of. These were basically regular newsletters outlining his latest developments and findings. Much of it got into Cars and Car Conversions magazine and also the UK Hot Car magazine which did a series of blow by blow build up articles on his famous 1380 drag Mini which his daughter used to such devastating effect.

Thanks guys. I was a the workshop yesterday and couldnt get the mini on the hoist to re fit the exhaust. Gave me a chance to sit down and have a read through. Great information but definately a few sections were a little out dated. I think I will chase up the other two volumes as well. Cheers.
