I want to access the underneath of the car to do various things, so I want to roll it on it's side. What's the best material to rest it on?

I have a couple of old tyres. A double air mattress. But no highly popular single mattress plus I don't really want to buy a single mattress simply for the job. I can buy a piece of http://www.superamart.com.au/bedroom/mattresses/single/posturefoam-22286/ but will it be OK?

I'm leaning towards the tyres but what would be the easiest/best option? If I did go tyres what would be the best place to position them to avoid denting any panels.

Jeez - our local tip is alway a good source of both tyres and mattresses. Use tyres braced against a wall or something solid to get the angle and height right and then use a a mattress to soften the contact between the tyres and the body

When i tipped mine i rolled it onto 2 single mattresses stacked, and used half inflated tyres to stabilize it so it wouldn't wobble too much as i wire wheeled the bottom.

An air mattress would be trouble, they can't even stay inflated with just a person on them.

i tipped mine against the shed wall, the roof gutter rested on a tyre on the floor against the wall and i tyed rope around a shed beam and the b pillar, in case it fell towards me, i had the floor near vertical it made changing the driver floor pan way eaiser

Managed to do it. Side rests on the pallet. Gutter rests on a half inflated tyre. Put two 4x2 through the front and rear bulkheads. Strap wrapped around and connected to an engine chain hung from the ceiling. Just on tipping point, held firm by the chain, got another 4x2 and manually tipped over. Chuffed I manged to keep it on the pallet.

never really looked but do the australian minis have the 3/8" bolt holes in corners of sill? I'm using them for my rotisere mounts
