Hi All, I am looking at buying a used bare engine block. Just like to know what to look out for? Obviously bore size but what else? Thanks |

1. Cracks between the bores at the top deck. Not common but does happen. 2. Check the 3 main caps are original, best done by measuring diameter but a fingernail on the joints will usually show if they don't belong. Caps were line bored with the block originally. A block with no caps = a doorstop (unless you want to pay for a set of new steel ones and a line bore job). |
