Looks like its been welded up before....

I'd put a new (good) Subframe in.

Cheers,

Yep -plenty of good subframes lying around. Just replaced it - makes it easier to do a good engine bay job with the subbi out. Your mostly there anyway.

Where are you ????

Sam, I have a `68 Moke one you can have for nix if you come pick it up.
They are the same, except for a few extra attachment points for the sump guard etc.

Sounds great Kevin!
Scared me a bit realising I'd been driving pretty hard with the front suspension barely attached!
Easy job to chuck it in with the engine out?

I found a crack like that on mine after i got it sandblasted. Luckily i was seam welding it all anyway so it didn't make too much extra work.

Good as new now 8)

weld it up, add straps going from the top and down the side

The main reason I'd replace it as the crack is all the way around. Hard to get a welder in there without removing the subby anyway...

Mine has cracked as well. Luckily it's not all the way around. My mechanic is going to weld and brace it :)

What are you guys bracing it with?? Is there some kind of special brace or just a shed knock up to do the job
