Question ???? BOYZ

with all the creature comforts with Rover Mini's i.e. air-conditioning , disc brakes , and all the " crap" in the engine bay is there anything particular i need to watch for ?

and with the air con on , how much power do you lose ? is that a strain on the motor ? and ..

how different is a rover mini motor with a 1.3 fuel injected mini to a normal a-series motor . is it more reliable and is a good idea to use it as a daily driver in sydney traffic and long distance ?

On the SPi, the small hoses that connect to the bottom of the air filter housing.

Make sure those hoses aren't perishing, and that the elbow joints on them are not splitting.

If those hoses are leaking your car will run like crap.

There is more to go wrong with them but generally as reliable as any other mini.

Those little hoses do perish - you can get rid of the elbow connectors and replace with standard vacuum line.

Things like crank angle sensors can go.

Injector cleaning.

We use ours semi-daily but have a backup in case.

I don't notice any power loss with the airconditioning.

MIKEYZAPANTA.
I have gone to the trouble to send you some information and photo's
via PM and email.

I take the non response from you about the above
is because of the following;

1. You did not receive the PM & Email

2. You like to collect information and photo's

3. you are to lazy to respond

4. All of the above

A thank you would have been nice to receive

Here's my response to your wonderfully tasteful email:

Number 5: I, unlike possibly you, have a full-time job and an extremely hectic schedule. I think it's rather ignorant to send a response as you did after just one day. I am not on this forum 24/7 as I do have a life outside of here. I am in the market for a Mini, and as I have received several emails, I just had not had the time to respond to your photos, et cetera. However, your poor attitude when I was just seeking information, as any educated and non-ignorant buyer would do, is in bad taste and puts me off from even bothering with you what-so-ever.

To assume like you obviously do, you are desperate to sell your Mini for some undisclosed reason, and that would make anyone uneasy. I am new to the forum again, as I have not had a mini in several years. I however, have had many over the last 15 years. So I do not appreciate "the list" that you require me to answer to put you at ease. But thank you anyway.

Mikey

P.S.

on your #3 "you are to lazy to respond", I usually only respond to correct grammar and spelling, it would be "you are TOO lazy to respond."

Have a great day!

Mini-bear, myself and my partner have 2 rover minis both with air con. The 998cc carb engine does notice the air con being switched on a lot more than the 1275spi one, but it is still worth it on a hot day. We have had very little go wrong with the 998cc carb car, quite a lot go wrong with the 1275 spi version, but the main things that have gone wrong are standard mini maintenance things, such as engine mounts, master cylinders, fuel pump, wiring, tires etc.. nothing particularly SPI or even Rover related. But going by your mini history, Im sure you are well informed of all the standard mini problems and maintenance requirements.
Incidently my 1275spi is my daily car (I do have a magna stationwagon as a back up car) and I do average about 15,000kms a year in it and it seems to cope quite well with the daily work haul.

The old Moke Forum had a smiley face munching on popcorn for threads like these.

Please ALPINE MOKE, tell me more about how Mikey must do what you tell him to do...

My Rover which i am currently selling is a 1275 SPI with all the creature comforts and to remove any of the mentioned issues it is fitted with a Specialist components Typhoon ECU which reduces all the issues associated with the Rover spi/ecu.

Power of 1275 is more torque than my partners zingy 998 rover auto!

They were all 998 or 1275. Given the trouble and expense of importing and complying them (which is built in to the price tag) you might as well get the 1275 - especially as UK or Japanese prices never seemed to put the engine size at the same premium price difference that you see here.
