Post subject:  Battery Hooks

Hi Guys,
Just got some hooks for the battery and holder, but they don't fit....

they appear to be an inch or so to short.

Any one else have this issue?

Cheers Brett

Could it be that your curent battery is bigger (taller)
than than the original

Its a modern battery.. Perhaps I should look for a shorter battery... But seems a bit of a waste.. Could be cheaper to buy longer hooks

Just as a matter of interest From memory most MK2 Cooper S Cars were fitted with a small lucas battery
and in fact had a metal packing plate to take up the gap between battery box and battery

I got a rubbere strap with the metal hooks on it from Clark rubber and tied a knot in the middle so it was the right length. There is a small piece of timber to fill the gap at the side.

Total cost $5...

I've done that before, but backwards, cut the hook end off and re-bent the hook. I can't cut a thread with a BFH! :D

I just left the hooks long on my car, then I put 2 holes in the battery box cover and use wingnuts to hold the cover down.
:D
