Just needing your opinions as to why it's not....

Really looking to sell me mini and as yet.... NOTHING!!

Looking to sell my 1990 Rover. It's fitted with a 1275 spi, this car has been fitted with a 1993 later model engine and gearbox combination fitted with spi, this is controlled by an uprated Typhoon programmable ECU, half leather interior, Red carpet, air conditioning, fair bit of shiny stuff on it, REALLY REALLY fantastic original condition(looked in the doors and there is no rust!), has nice beefy exhaust, near new set of alloys as shown in picture and runs FANTASTIC.

Had the car dyno'd to set up the Typhoon and it was turning out in standard form 46hp at the wheels which is pretty good!

It really is a SOLID SOLID car... Only selling to make a beast and really don't think i should mess with this amazing car!

Car comes as shown except plates!

Maybe people are stand offish as you sell so many cars not long after buying them.

I think the interior shot lets it down a lot. It's dusty and dirty and the seats look well worn as does the steering wheel.

It's black which can be a nightmare when you look up close for scratches and marks, the mayfair badge, the exhaust and no engine bay shots.

No detail on Km's.

Location.

Typhoon ECU has me thinking why? when it's putting on stock power? Did you not get the factory ECU?

It's a 1990 carbie car with a 1993 conversion and that will turn some people off as it's not factory.

Not a lot of detail on how the work was done and when.

I'd expect a lot more detail in the comments and more pictures, especially since you're in Perth and there will be potential buyers on the east coast.

Possible because you're in Perth. If you were on the east coast there's more population in a smaller area, so more potential buyers.

imo... price theres plenty of other minis around perth with more good bits for less at the moment i think that alot of people want to buy a mini to "do it up" so they want something cheap unless they understand minis then they know what minis are like and are looking for good value for money. I cannot understand why everyone in perth wants so much money for their minis at the moment. Seems like that person 2 saw person 1 selling their mini for $5000 so person 2 decides he has a better mini so he sells it for $6000 and no1 sells any minis...

There is only ever one reason something that is well advertised doesn't sell: it's priced too high for the market it's selling in. Either drop the price, or advertise more widely. If you've not even had contacts wanting to discuss price then you're either WAY over price, or the advertising is not reaching the target market. There are differences between the NZ and Aus market, but to give you an idea there is a guy local to me that struggled to sell (still struggling maybe, not sure) a Rover in good condition at NZD$9k. He started at 12. Yours looks to be in better condition than his, however there are more rovers and more people in Aus so swings and round abouts.....

My quick thoughts... Too expensive (But then again I'm not looking to buy a Rover) Need a better rundown on the cars detail, really sell the good points, see _666_ latest FS thread for my old Rover. *Edit - Might make me think its worth the 12K, can always try. Polish that exhaust. either fix or remove the 'AYFAIR' sticker. Nicer interior pics, at least give it a clean inside before you take pictures. Small things like the above give me the impressions its a daily that you want to offload. Even if that is the case, as a buyer I don't want to know that. Maybe chuck in an engine bay shot....that's clean. No info on engine, age wise. How many K's ? rebuilt ? reco'd ? still original ? Since it is in Perth, people may be hesitant to consider it if they live in the Eastern States. I found my Rover really hard to sell, and I had it listed at $10,000. Markets change, demand changes.

Comparable? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1986-Rover-M ... 35ba058487 And then that car is being sold on consignment so is negotiable. Yours someone on the east coast would be buying it sight unseen and then adding at least another $1k to the purchase price to get it home.

Mostly everything everyone else said, plus sometimes it is just a matter of waiting for the right person to walk along. I had a modified clubman with all the right engine and gearbox gear. I wanted to sell it for around $5000 with no buyers and people on here who knew the car also couldn't understand why it wasn't selling. It was a good shell, and had all the right bits. I think it was in between the cars which people buy to do up and the ones which have had fortune spent on them. I ended up taking all the good stuff off (Disc brakes; hotted up 1293 etc) and turned it back into a std 1100 with drum brakes. Sold it to a guy in newcastle area for $3300 or thereabouts; then sold the engine, brakes; and two years later the gearbox for about the same money as what I wanted originally. I had more interest when it was a standard 1100 for $3500 than when it was much more valuable in my opinion (as a hot 1293 with all the fruit) for just $1500 more.

Price, presentation and market conditions are the only real factors in a sale, location doesn't matter if a buyer is keen .Check out prices of similar cars to see what they are SELLING for (NOT what they are advertised for) Make sure the interior is spotless ,and a few pics of the engine would help ,aslo a bit more info on the engine. Unfortunately you cannot control the third condition, the market is not good at the moment for classic cars of any type ,but this will improve in time ...cheers

When you advertise on the same forum that you put all the other details about how excited you aer about getting the car only a month or two before selling it, the first thing that pops in my head is "He has realised the thing is rusted/broken/going to break/bad condition/dodgy/etc and needs to sell it fast..."
