Post subject:  What colour

I know a lot of will probably frown at the idea but I'm putting together a Cooper S copy, not trying to be exact, just close. The delemer I have is do I paint it British racing green or red, with white roof of course. Just don't seem to be able to decide. :?:

Red is different, IMO there are too many BRG ones.
Red is faster too, of course! :P

Red if you want black interior or green if you want a beige interior.
Check out the original colour charts as there are some nice stock colours.

I had red/white one and is nice when new but fades and oxidises quickly.
Personal choice is yours, one mans trash is anothers gold.
Cheers Rob.

I agree.......One of the best colour combos and so seldomly done. Red/white or BRG/white is all a bit too cliche. I think there are more replicas painted in these colours than Cooper S's

There are so many great colours in the factory range..White with a black roof and red interior is one of my favourites, white with burgundy roof, variego blue is a stunning midnight blue. Think outside the norm and I am sure you will be happy.

Don't be afraid of creating a Cooper S copy as long as you don't forget it's a copy :D

Might also depend what year model you want to go with, will you be trying to keep the trim and other components that accurate, MkI or MkII or just at a glance it looks like a Cooper S?

So it looks like brown is the most popular colour................he he he.

Red it is, with white roof.

I know red is popular on mini's and some might say 'common', but that's sort of what I'm after, the easy 'recognise it as cooper s' look.
Sure when I'm at 'mini meet', I'll just be one of the crowd, but where I live there's only 2 local mini's, a blue rover and yes you guessed it, a red and white Cooper S.

I used to have a plain Jet Red S and often thought about putting a white roof on it but was never quite sure if I liked the white roof or not with the red, so I left it as a mono colour, I also had an Indigo Blue S with the white roof, the Indigo Blue is a very nice colour.

Mine was red with white roof for many years until i decided to go red monochrome. With the black wheels I reckon it is much better.

Too many "works" red/white replicas around IMHO, so if you go that way it becomes invisible if that is what you want.

In any case, do what you like and make yourself happy before any one else.

cheers
michael
