Afternoon All, I was wondering if anyone had a listing of bearing numbers, both the bearing and the other half, and the seals. I want to visit my local bearing supplier and see if the prices we can buy them for online include the classic car tax or not

The genuine Timken front hub kit is LM67049A assembly. It contains: 2x cones LM67049A 2x cups LM67014 1x selected spacer LM67049XA The spacer only comes in this kit, not separately- it is selected to give the right preload when assembled with these bearings. Do not mix it with parts from other kits. Note- as well as for Mini & Morris 1100 hubs it also is listed by Timken for a Ditch Witch digger. 
[edit] good luck finding a decent bearing or seal catalog on line, most I find are useless. Sales bumpf is all most contain. |

Yes they go right in, except.. The inner seal has to be left out about 3mm more than it did with the ball bearings. The split ring spacer for the seal is 5.8mm wide for Timkens and 2.4mm wide with the ball bearings. If you knock the seal in too far it will foul on the bearing cone. You don't absolutely need the spacer, if you don't knock the seal too far in... 
{edit] Torque the nut to 60ft/lb as before, NOT 150. The torque depends on the thread size, not the bearing type. 150 will stretch and/or break the threads. Disc brake CVs have a much bigger thread. [edit] seal spacer widths confirmed |

48x62x8mm is marked on mine. On Oz cars the inner and outer seals were/are the same (as std outer one). Pommy inner seals have a water/slush/mud/snow deflector (white plastic thingy) that sits in there, against the back of the CV. |

Anyone have a part number for the rear kit and a recommended supplier for these in Oz - preferably Sydney? I was going to order them on sale from a certain large Mini chain in the UK, but they want 38 pounds (approx $60) freight for 4 wheel bearings - WTF?

Try Minis Plus, Lindsay may have these Timken ones. I think Kc only carries the noname ones now not the Timkens, ring and ask. Or you could try a bearing supplier, but beware- there was 1100% markup on bearings in the bearing industry 8 years ago and I bet it's worse now. But if you have an account, goforit.

That is some markup Kev, apart from the above mentioned people, Mini King also carry the Noname bearings And I must add we have had no problems with the Bearings we sell If anyone is able to by timken bearings at a reasonable price I would love to hear from You |

Lindsay Seibler has Timken fronts: http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/p ... cts_id=145 He only lists these noname? rears, however there is little load there and IMO they would be fine, certainly are stronger than standard ball bearings used on all Minis except $ & GT. http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/p ... cts_id=147 Note if you find Unipart ghk1548 ones, they are Timkens in the box, these ones of Lindsay's may be too. |
