Hey guys,

I'm just in the process of stripping an Aussie clubman van for parts and have a query about the rear sub frame mounts.
Judging on the oxidation around the four trunnion (not sure if it's the right term?) I'd say they were aluminium? They certainly have a different footprint to them-where they meet the underside of the shell.
All four mounts are the same casting and having a larger foot print ad the sub frame at the rear has had the spot welding lands bent away for clearance.
Are these common place over in Australia?
Not long read the thread on the fabricated rear arms on here-interesting!

Yes they are alloy. Common yes. We had to save weight somewhere..... :lol:
No salt on the roads here, so why not. :wink:

My old 850 were made of steel/iron type of material definately not cast alloy. It had the steel/iron trumpets too.

I'm not sure about the earlier cars but those of the 70's were alloy, however the Moke from about 79 on were steel.

Can't remember the Cooper S but suspect they are steel?
