Hi all, The gearstick/remote change vibrates and rattles like crazy in my car. How hard is it to change the bushes in these? Would I need any speciallist tools? Ryan |

I have 2x remote box setups (under a 1360 and a 1412) and neither rattles. I find it's usually the split top bush (under the spring) that causes the rattle. When the bush wears against the ball, it moves down, hits the housing and then the spring can't hold it tight. Undo the 2 big screws on top and it all comes off, replace the bottom bush too whilst you're in there. Tools needed: 1x decent big flat blade screwdriver. Lube: I clean & pack it all with Castrol HTB wheel bearing grease. |

. What Drmini says is absolutely correct. However In my experience a new top split bush is usually not enough to eliminate the rattle completely. The large ball on the shifter also wears the Ball seat in the housing allowing the whole shifter to drop further into the housing creating excessive clearance that a new split ring (bush) will not take up. The aim is to have the split ring contact the ball before it contacts the top of the shifter housing. This will allow the Split ring and spring to do its job which is to hold the large ball hard into its seat in the housing. The solution is to Machine or File 0,75 to 1.00 mm from the top of the Shifter housing. (the face with the two taped holes in it) With a good sharp file and some care this can be done quiet easily. Be sure to keep the face square and level You will have to remove the Shifter housing from the car to do this job Hope this helps, Dave. |

Having never pulled one apart, I'm a bit lost, but as far as I can tell there are only two bushes. Is this correct? Both where the gear stick meets the selector. One bellow the ball and one above. This is the bush bellow. Is there one above? http://www.minisport.com.au/prod1213.htm Ryan |

Also recomended The one you need is this one in the link below. It goes on the top large ball and the spring pushes on it holding the large shifter ball firm on its seat. Re the top bush, last 2 times I wanted one nobody here had any, so I turned one up out of nylon. I didn't put a chamfer on the bottom where it meets the ball, this gives me more life. It'll wear a chamfer there, soon enough. |

All fixed. Picked up a new top an bottom bush from John at mini king. Changed them over this arvo. Was an easy job and well worth the couple of dollars. Thanks everyone for your help. Ryan |
