Post subject:  Seat Brackets

I have two different types of seat brackets and I was wondering what models they were off.
I want to modify one set, but I want to make sure they aren't rare or anything.

My guess is that the longer ones are the stock 850 ones , and the other are later model ones...
Correct??

Stock Oz made 850 seat brackets only had 1 hole and were rivetted onto the seat, they had no bolts & wingnuts.

My `guess' is the RH one in pic is Morris Cooper up to 1964, and the LH one is later.

The red one on the LHS was used on the later models.

I cannot comment on the black one - foreign to me, and knowing Kevin's prowess I'd run with his comment until proven otherwise. Or maybe use the parts book?

Black on is bog stocko rover, used early 80s right through to end of production.
Red is aussie and early car up to 77.

Does anyone know the bolt size to mount seat brackets to the crossmember??
And if you do I'm very surprised..!

1/4" UNF, 1/2 or 3/4" long.
Put a big washer under the head as the holes in the bracket are slotted.

The black one looks like the one fitted to the Elvis Presley special edition, only 6 made...........

On the more serious side, another good idea is to put bracket in position on cross member and cut round bracket and remove that little bit of carpet under it. Lets you tighten bolts properly without distorting cross member or nuts cracking out with 'larger' persons.
