As Tim said above, there is nothing noted in the parts book. My experience with the bumperettes is that they often need to be bent up slightly when fitting repos, so this may be the case with yours as well.

Hi guys I'm in the process of fitting the new wood kit to my countryman and need to know how the area around the rear bumpers fit. Can someone with a woody please have a look and see has the wood been trimmed for the bumper to fit over or has there been some sort of bracket other than the standard van piece where the bumper bolts on that moves the bumper out slightly to allow the wood to fit behind it. Mine didnt have the bumpers fitted when I bought it and my other countryman doesnt have the wood kit to check against. Thanks in advance Jason |

That's a good a question. On mine the wood hasn't been trimmed but the flanges that the bumpers mount on have been bent downwards slightly. They don't fit very well but I can't quite tell what is original. It does look like there should be a small bracket to move them out slightly. Tim |

Hi Jason yes I had the same thing with my traveller, every thing was finished and bumpers not going to fit, just made a couple of small spacer plates to move them out, not sure if this is the right or only way but it worked for me. mini regards peter d |

I just had a look in the parts manual and there is nothing special shown. The little quarter bumpers have the same part number as a van, and they appear to just bolt straight to the flange. Tim |

Ok thanks guys, might email the traveller countryman register and see what they say. I managed to find an old english retired woodwork teacher who is fitting the kit, he suggested a small bracket to move them out. He is so excited he is not even charging for his time to fit it, though I have bought him an oscillating tool thing $400 to say thanks. He couidnt sleep with the excitement of fitting the kit, was up at 3am making a list of what he needs to do lol. I need to bend the flanges down a bit as the doors dont clear the bumpers anyway, Not sure if this is just more rubbish repo parts (bumpers this time) that dont fit or the car has been rear ended previously and these flanges not lined up properly, |

Same with mine but I also recall making sure I trimmed the angle of the timber slightly before it all went together to try and minimise the problem. |

New question guys, wood is now on and looking lovely the guy has done a fantastic job. Have gone to fit the rear door handle and it is not long enough to go through to interlock with the bit behind. Thought OK will use the old one but it is exactly the same. Im not keen on countersinking the handle as this will look poxy. Is there a longer woody van handle available or is it best to modify the handle I hav? Put a sleeve on it and cut some off the old handle to extend it. Would need to replace the studs with longer ones too. |

Yes the square shaft is longer on the woody. If it was me, I'd cut a bit off an old one and lengthen it. The shaft on mine sticks out of the handle by 55mm. Tim |

It is good to see some traffic on this site regarding woodies My old one is still going strong with it's new owner (3 yrs) and I still get the occasional whisper about another one hidden away, they are out there !!! |
