Ok so what's the norm when it comes to minis?
Should I go for just 3rd party or full cover?
Also who do you think the best insurer is at what price and any benefits.
Cheers.

Depends!
My Cooper S is with NRMA vintage and Veterans but only cause its on club plates
If its a daily driver then maybe try Shannon's
I usually try for fully comp but it will depend on your budget and the value of the car
My mini van is with AAMI but only 3rd party property

Not worried too much about the budget but I have no idea what my car is worth lol.
It will probably be driven every second or third day.

Can of worms here, or is it a bucket of popcorn....

Unless you are young and can't get cover I'd go comprehensive, agreed value, with either Shannons, NRMA V&V (or whatever it's called) or Lumley.
If your car is any good, the other suspects won't insure it for what it's really worth.

My current insurance burglar of choice is Shannons... and if totalled I get to keep the wreck.

top colour combo right there... i've been planning to paint my roof black for a while, decision is now made.

As such, I'd insure it with Shannons, because that's who I'm insured with

i would go for anywhere between 12-14k

I am with shannons and i pay $65 a month for $12,800 cover.
I am 20 years old and only pay $250 excess and get to keep the wreck!
You don't pay more for month to month.

Is that daily driver coverage or 2-3 times a month?

Mine is insured with Shannons for $11K, costs me a bit over $300, I have a 5000 miles/yr limit (these days I'd be lucky to do 1/2 that).

Realistically though, they never check the mileage, AFAIK. I've been with Shannons for 15? years.

Shannons seem to be the most popular.
Im 20, car is on a club permit insured for 7k and i pay $216 a year for full comp.

Anyone know what they are like to deal with when the time unfortunately comes to put in a claim?

They bend over backwards to help you. Unlike some/most others...
I had a $7.5K claim for hail damage on my Falcon (it's also with Shannons).
I doubt you will find a dissenting voice here when it comes to Shannons claims. :D

It's not for daily use but more than 3 times a month I think I can drive it 2-3 times a week. But I rarely drive it anyway.

I also live in Grafton so the risk factor is down compared to Sydney.

Try them all. You won't have problems with any of the reputable insurers. However, it can be surprising what insurers are concerned about. Some are more worried about old cars and some with young drivers....

And some go out of their way to attract new customers - you can always change next year....

With the I'net it only takes a few minutes (well maybe an hour) to check all the options - and the results may not be obvious before you start...

I'm with Shannons for the Minis - but they don't like the modern daily driver.... or the Daughter's grotty old Toyota..

Cheers, Ian
