My brother has been playing with his supercharged SU setup for a while and has had experts look at it and they cant seem to fix the problem
The car either dies on overrun from leanness and idles nicely or is fine on overrun and idles very rich.
Im wondering what tweaks we can do that will raise the overrun mixture and lower the idle mixture.
Can springs, needles or drilling the butterfly help?
Any links also much appreciated.
EDIT:Title change so easier to find in future

thanks for the links raisto 8) very informative but im still no closer to sorting out the issue we have.
In the first one he mentions BMC as british motor er mmm arr organisation
Also briefly mentioned overrun valve/port and im wondering if tinkering with that could make the carb better.

its suck through V max kit so from what ive read should be fine with the SU. My very uneducated guess is that the carb is having some reaction to the car on overrun.Im not sure what happens with a SC setup when you come off the throttle,im guessing engine is still making boost but the engine doesnt want it :?
Does closing the butterfly whilst making boost cause the mixture to go lean?

What ignition setup and plugs are you running?
I assumed the carby is an HIF44 ? What needle do you have?

I think you will eventually get it running reasonable but yes mine will stop after a run down the highway, but does usually idle sort of ok around town.
End result is the Vmaxscart kit with carby has big issues and really needs to be fuel injected where you can control the fuel much better.

KPV is talking about mine michael

I have had it down to the dyno and it is certainly much better than it was. The thing is an absolute weapon when you have your foot down but if you sit at lights for a while the revs need to stay up around 2000rpm otherwise it starts bouncing around on idle and the big hesitation on take off like you had.

I really dont understand as I cant find anyone else on any other forum who has the same issues. Surely if you had just picked up your mini from the conversion done at vmax and got to the first set of lights and it did what ours do you would turn around and go right back, Someone would of said something about it on a forum.

I really dont want to inject the kit, was hoping to use the injection set up in my riely elf sleeper. I got an adapter from vmax for the kit which is complete bollocks, you would have to move the master cylinders to get it working.

At the end of the day I will run it how it is for now.
