Hey Guys,
Just wondering if an 1100 block bored 40thou over (not used since) with new cam bearings is worth $100?
It doesnt come with crank or piston but i think its cheap for an imacculate block..
What do i look at as to why it could have been bored?
Owner doesnt know why it was bored because he brought it and hasnt used it.
Where do i look for cracks etc?
Any help appreciated, i just dont know a whole lot about blocks.

Cheers, Rhys

Without the original caps it is a doorstop. They were line bored to size, with the block. They are not interchangeable.
It is possible to buy new steel caps (or grind a bit off some S/H ones) then line bore the block again, however this is expensive, shortens the crank to cam C/S a bit, and the chain will be loose unless a tensioner is fitted (more expense).

If no caps, go find another 998 or 1098 block.. plenty about.
You should be able to get a dead one with crank and all for a hundred or so.

As for why it was bored then left, perhaps it was done first then the owner realised the `no caps' problem.

well i am picking up a few other bits and pieces from a mate which includes a dead 1100 on a subby. So if it doesnt have caps im better off rebuilding the dead one..
