Post subject:  Mk1 coop S rim width

I tried searching the forums guys but to no avail,
What is the ideal rim for my mini, mk1 with no flares.
Are 10" x 5" the best?
I have some 10" x 150mm width contessas sitting in the shed, but they are 6" (150mm), too wide?.
Cheers
Michael

No flares is the issue here with your rim choice. There will be few rims you can use that will legally fit the tyres beneath the guards fully.
An example of one which will fit however is the "bumpy" contessa fitted to the clubman LS back in the day. 4.5" wide and with an offset which is much more inboard than normal contessas.

Bumpy LS Contessas are 10x5, not 10x4.5. They are just inset around 1" more than the common Contessas, which makes them look narrower.
UK Minilite 10x4.5s would fit OK too...

So are we talking disc brakes?? Without them the outside clearance should be fine with "normal" Contestas. You could just try them (assuming you have tyres...)

Without spaced drums you may have problems with clearance on the inside face of the rear (esp with the factory ROHs).

OK re-read the title of the thread..... Factory ROHs will be fine as will 4.5 S/FIA style Minilites (4.5s come in different styles..)

Cheers, Ian
