Hi guys as the title says and i know it sounds like a silly question but I had it all working perfectly drove it to the mechanic and back for it's road worthy inspection where it got put in the garage for about a month befor moving again. I took it for a spin around the block one day and it no longer worked. has any one had anything similar happen to them before? It's a brand new cable too in case you're wondering lol.

Check that it hasn't popped out of the back of the speedo.

Possible the square slot in the speedo drive has worn, and the cable is just spinning freely without driving the speedo gear.

Those are the two easier ones to fix, and the first things I'd be checking.

yeah i checked the back of the speedo and it's still secure. The speedo drive end is very loose now, the cable it self but the fitting is still how i tightened it. so that would be my guess is the speedo drive is worn out/broken?

A new cable can break in a matter of minutes if it is run kinked or bent too tightly.

A tight speedo can break a new cable just as quickly as it broke the old one.

Disconnect the cable from the back of the speedo and check that it hasn't broken. While its out, inspect the back of the speedo for any signs of wear. Its a very easy check.
