Auto electrician should have a listing for a 1980s Gemini (Isuzu) RWD starter solenoid, and price.
Or if you want to get ripped, you could try a Holden dealer...

Ok, if you read my other post you would know that I have a dodgy solenoid. It's the type from the Gemini starter bought from mg heritage. http://www.mgspareparts.com.au/index.ph ... l?Itemid=0 I'm not sure where I should go to get a new solenoid or even what to ask for as it has no part numbers etc etc Any advice? |

Thanks to Tony, I have been able to confirm that the solenoid is dead. He also confirmed that the starter is a hitachi s114-202. Now I know what to ask for. Cheers all. Ryan |

Just one thing about a new Solenoid Ryan. If you do find a new replacement make sure you check it well against the old one , Plungere length and travel and position of mounting holes as sometimes original replacements might differ from the Chinese Re-pro units and this is done with an intention so you throw it away and buy a new one again. Suppliers save themselves the effort of having to keep spare parts. When it comes to re fitting the solenoid to the starter make sure you pull the whole thing apart and start from the beginning. First assemble the solenoid and the fork lever at the correct position on the drive, lower into the front bracket into bush and fit solenoid mounting bolts. Don't forget the little rubber that fills the gap between solenoid and starter body. This acts a s a locator for the housing too. The rest is logical. I have just finished modifying and rebuilding Three of these (Genuine Hitachi) starters to sell at the Muster. Original Gemini starters are getting very hard to find. They were a good thing. |

Ok, no one wants to supply me a new solenoid. So I went to the wreckers, but he wanted $100 for the whole starter. I ended up taking it into an auto electrician, he is going to try and sort it out cheaper for me. I didn't think a solenoid would be so hard to get. If not, another wrecker said he has a Gemini and rodeo I could pull a motor from for $40. If not I will just buy a whole new unit. Samcar - it's only about 2 years old. Not very impressed |

Managed to source a new solenoid through my local auto electrician. It seems people just didnt want to help over the phone. |
