Where are the finance guru's.

Just about to put my order in for my pistons and crank pulley. Here is me calculations.

All parts advertised including VAT (%20)

Pistons 480 pounds
Pulley 155 pounds

Total 635 pounds less the 20% VAT = 508 pounds, plus fedex delivery 56.13 pounds = 564.13 pounds (maybe add VAT to delivery 67.36)

Total 575.36 pounds (if VAT is added to delivery or 564.13 if you don't VAT delivery)

This is the answer I got back (it's only 20quid and won't stop me putting my order in) but can someone explain how they would arrive at this figure???

It is a little confusing as our prices inc vat but Fedex prices do not, so this is how the figures should look

Forged pistons £480.00
Management pulley kit £155.00
Total UK sale inc vat £635.00

Less Vat @ 20% £105.83

Parts total export no VAT £529.17

Fedex export delivery no vat £56.13

Grand total £585.30

Sorry but it is a little hard to sort out I know, any problems let me know

You havent got any numbers worng have you?
For example:

100 + 20% = 120
120 - 20% = 96

Numbers are right. Even worked out how much VAT was involved in the 635.00 (635 x 20% = 127.00)

Nahh Dalmany you have made a mistake in your numbers

You came to 635pound (including 20% Vat) (so it is 20% more than you have to pay, so you have paid 120%)
so:
635/120 (This will work out 1% of the cost you pay)
= 5.2917 (this is 1%)
multiply the above by 100 (because you need to pay 100%)
This will bring you to 529.17

Add postage of 56.13

Gives you a total of 585.30

Hope that makes sense

Brenton

You are a genius!!! If you say 585.30 is right then I'm happy with the answer.

Thanks Steve

Easy way to remove 20% VAT is divide total by 1.2, because the quoted price is 1.2 times what you have to pay.

635 divided by 1.2 = 529.166667

Cheers,

Dicko.

Just like using 1.1 here for working out how much GST is in an amount. :D

They come fly cut for the 16V BMW head and after a couple of months I'll forget they were $200 or $300 more than other options. And now I'm looking at some rods to go with them. GR has some Chinese imports he is using. (China doesn't equate to cheap either)

Thanks
Now I've got it, it'll make it easy to work out with my next orders.

Dalmeny,

Yeah GR is putting those rods into my engine at the moment.
Apparently they are lighter and stronger than Cooper S ones.

While they may seem expensive if you consider the cost of sourcing S rods then the time spent in balancing and machining them it doesnt work out too bad.

These are similar but not the ones he is using!:
