Post subject:  Rod change to remote in clubman: whats involved?

Am thinking of swapping gboxes on my engine.
Currently run an A+ box with 3.1 diff.
Not happy with gear ratios, in particular 1st & 2nd, and want to swap to a 3.44 diff.

I have a 4 synchro remote box with 3.44 dif. Would like to convert it to cooper s cr gear ratios and use it.

So what's involved with putting it in a clubby?

Rear remote housing bracket
Do I need to swap driveshafts to accommodate the steel Uni joints?
Anything else?

Thanks.

You can run pot joints if you want. I just changed to pots in mine.

depending on what year shell, you may also have to modify the hole in the floor slightly, to mount the rod change mechanism.

I think he's wanting to go the other way - Rod change to Remote.

Dicko.

You need a gearbox, the shift mechinism, remote gearstick and a bracket from a hydro car

Typo - thanks Dicko.

I say that as the floor in my '71 clubman had to be modified to fit a rod change. Maybe the very early ones came out with remote?

And yes, there was a typo in my original response, I meant mount a remote.
